Medical interpreters ensure that non-English speaking patients receive quality medical care by facilitating accurate and confidential communication with their health care providers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects interpreter and translator jobs to grow 20 percent over the next decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. That makes it important to improve the quality of medical interpreters.
Our mission is to improve the quality of medical interpreters in the market. We plan to achieve this by allowing:
- Medical interpreters to understand their level of proficiency by taking our test
- Recruiters to screen prospective candidates by reviewing the results of our test
- Companies to improve the quality of service by determining the proficiency of the employees

The Law
- Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 requires recipients of federal financial assistance to take reasonable steps to make their programs, services and activities accessible for eligible persons with limited English proficiency.
- Federal law requires that any organization which receives federal financial assistance, including Medicare, Medicaid and federal reimbursements to provide equal care to every patient. This means that limited English-proficient patients and hearing-impaired patients must be granted a professional medical interpreter to assure the communication between them and their health care provider is accurate so that proper care is provided.

Testimonials
I found the test to provide very useful material. The quiz had terms that an interpreter encounters frequently in medical settings. These are necessary for any interpreter to know.

Very Interesting! Taking the test is good practice to be more familiar with terms we use in an everyday interpretation.

I really enjoyed taking these tests because it helped me to quickly test out my flow and the overall experience that I had in the interpretation field over the years. I therefore 100% recommend that everyone try it.
